Speakers Info:

Prof. Shula ParushProf. Shula Parush completed her graduate studies in occupational therapy at the University of Southern California where she studied under Dr. Jean Ayres. She received her PhD in physiology from the Hebrew University Faculty of Medicine and played a central role in the establishment of a graduate program in occupational therapy at the Hebrew University School of Occupational Therapy in Jerusalem. Her main field of research interest relates to sensory modulation disorders (SMD) using physiological and behavioral correlates and the majority of her research is conducted within an interdisciplinary framework. This approach affords the opportunity to study in depth and from various perspectives the significant processes related to sensory modulation. In her field of research she is a reviewer for many scientific journals and grants. In 2008 she was nominated by the American Occupational Therapy Foundation as a member of the Academy of Research. Prof. Parush currently serves as the Director of the School of Occupational Therapy of the Hebrew University Faculty of Medicine and is the Chair of its graduate program.

Sharon DuvalSharon Duval is a certified speech/language pathologist who has worked the past 20 years primarily with children who have neurological differences. Sharon received her certification in the DIR® model in 2007. Her therapy techniques incorporate using spontaneous interaction to help the child strengthen functional developmental levels while being sensitive to sensory processing differences, and building a relationship with the child and family. These techniques have proven to be beneficial in working with children who have developmental challenges. The DIR Model was developed by Stanley Greenspan, M.D., and Serena Wieder, Ph.D., and focuses on helping the child become a thinker and problem solver. Both Dr. Greenspan and Dr. Wieder have coached Sharon during her training process, and she sis excited to be able to share her knowledge with the rest of the world.
