At Monarch Therapy School, we want to meet the child behind the symptoms, and focus on their strengths  as much as their shortcomings.
The Monarch model is successful because it comprehensively combines children’s efforts with family and professional support, to develop the interests, talents and skills that will coach them to function more effectively and independently.

Children we consider for admission at Monarch Therapy School:

Our students have generally been diagnosed with and/or display characteristics within the following spectrums:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Learning disabilities
  • Attention Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorders (ADD or ADHD)
  • Pervasive Developmental Disorders and related conditions that affect social skill development, and display potential to achieve self-reliant social interaction
  • Emotional/social and behavioral development difficulties
  • Tourette syndrome
  • Epilepsy and related disorders
  • Sensory Processing Disorder, or Sensory Perception Sensitivity
  • Impulsiveness and mood regulation disorders, possibly including diagnoses pointing to anxiety, depression, mood disorders and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
  • Difficulties affecting motivation, and activity organization, planning and execution
  • Difficulties processing information

  • Have a history of undermotivation to complete tasks
  • Feel frustrated, disappointed and disinterested in academic activities
  • Have been misunderstood, mistreated and exposed to a variety of therapies and programs, with false promises
  • Feel overwhelmed by the prospect of trying to cope with day-to-day activities inside and outside educational environments
  • They have never been carefully assessed
  • Depend on professionals, and have not embarked on a path to independence
  • Have been treated condescendingly, and received no praise for their genuine achievements and merits
  • Deny and/or resent their own weaknesses instead of tackling them in a comprehensive way
  • Lack awareness and self-regulation
  • Have few friends or meaningful bonds
